You don't need to apologise for taking a break from content

Have you ever felt guilty for not publishing or posting content? Whether you’re spending a week away on vacation, or busy travelling, or you’re in the throes of planning a new program launch, or you find yourself taking an unintentional break from Instagram…

I want this video to serve as a reminder (+ encouragement) for you.

It’s ok to take a break from content. And you don’t need to apologise for it.

You see posts like these aaall the time across the internet:

— Here’s how to prep your content for vacation so that you can laze around by the pool instead!

— Here’s how to busy-proof your content schedule even when you’re working on a side-hustle + have five kids + a menagerie of animals!

— Here’s how to create a year’s worth of content in five minutes without breaking a sweat!

Here’s the thing - they’re all valid (although slightly melodramatic) ideas.

(Except for creating a year’s worth of content in five minutes – if you hear someone telling you that I want you to run. Run far away. And FAST.)

But it’s also an equally valid option to just remove content from your to-do list for a bit. (Gasp! I know!)

Marie forleo is a great example of this.

Every year, her company completely shuts down for two weeks (twice a year). Since they batch film seasons of MarieTV, she could easily still release content during those two weeks off – but Marie doesn’t. They take a COMPLETE AND FULL BREAK.

And you don’t need to run a multi-million dollar empire for this strategy to work.

It’s good for your brain, your creativity and your business to take a break.

Are you afraid that you’ll lose followers and subscribers? I want you to remember that if:

— Someone unfollows you on IG because you haven’t posted in two days… they’re not your ideal client.

— Someone unsubscribes because you’re taking three weeks off from your weekly emails… they’re not your ideal client.

And I know it’s easier said than done to say, “Oh, don’t worry about unsubscribes and unfollows!”. (I still find it tough.)

But try not to worry about it, ok? It’s a waste of your time and energy.

You don’t need to apologise for taking a break from content.
